Dr. Sarah Maki is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and specializes in premium cataract surgery, complex cataract cases, and comprehensive glaucoma care. Originally from Michigan, Dr. Maki graduated summa cum laude from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology. She went on to earn her medical degree from Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine, graduating with honors in Bioethics and Professionalism. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Minnesota, followed by a glaucoma fellowship at Minnesota Eye Consultants.
Dr. Maki is an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the American Glaucoma Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She has received numerous honors, including the Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program Award of Highest Achievement and the Richard T. Olson Best Teaching Award. A member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, she has authored multiple research publications and remains committed to advancing the field of ophthalmology.
Passionate about giving back, Dr. Maki has participated in medical outreach programs both locally and abroad, providing surgical care to underserved populations and working with displaced refugees. Outside of medicine, Dr. Maki enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time outdoors with her husband and daughter. She also speaks fluent Arabic.
